How often do you hear people talk about the many different ways you can practice self care?
Are you being kind enough to yourself?
It can be a little overwhelming trying to figure out what works and doesn’t work for you! Plus there’s tonnes of checklists spanning up to 50 different ways for self care. The options are vast. We decided to cut through the noise and select five simple ways to practice self care.
Meditate
It sounds annoying to always hear people harp on about meditation and how good it is…but seriously, it really is. Sit with yourself. Learn to let go of chaotic thoughts. Refocusing the mind and practising meditation really helps to clear your thoughts, focus and calm the mind. Who doesn’t want greater mental clarity after the tumultuous year of 2020? Go outside
A sure-fire way to turn any sour mood sweet. Stepping outside into fresh, open air really does wonders for your mind, body and soul. Not only does it bring more oxygen to your brain, it also means that you’re moving around. Sitting stagnant at a desk or lying in bed all day prevents blood flow and leaves muscles/joints tight. So, get up, open the front door and go outside!
Make sleep a priority
This is a no-brainer, but it can be hard for some to do. Sleep is when your body regenerates, heals itself and creates energy for you to use the next day. If you’re not getting enough sleep or prioritising other things over sleep, stop. There are so many negative side effects on your health that poor sleep creates, so make it a top priority.
Eat well
What goes into your stomach impacts your cognitive function and overall wellbeing. If you have a poor diet full of caffeine, sugar and excessive fats, your entire body, including your mind, is going to suffer. Make sure, even if only on weekdays, you stick to a healthy and balanced diet. To learn more about how important your diet is, click here.
Stay Hydrated
Super simple. Drink a glass of water in the morning and ensure you’re maintaining hydration throughout the day. It’s recommended that you drink around 8 glasses of water each day to avoid dehydration. Boost your metabolism, flush out unwanted toxins, increase energy levels and keep skin glowing!
The best way to be kind to yourself is by eating well, self-care, sleeping, and meditation. Yes, meditation. Hearing people constantly talk about meditation and how beneficial it is seems grating. But it's true, in all seriousness. Recline by yourself. Clearing your thoughts, focusing, and calming your mind are all made possible by refocusing your attention and practicing meditation. Meditation Essential Oil helps your mind to concentrate and find its center by incorporating it into your meditation routine. Additionally, it can eliminate any unfavorable thoughts and energies that might prevent you from achieving mindfulness and enlightenment. Additionally, using essential oils can calm your body and re-establish your spiritual connection.
We hope some of these steps feel achievable for you. Take your self care journey one step at a time and use these microsteps to enhance your physical and mental wellbeing. At the end of the day, your health is indeed your wealth so start prioritising YOU!
